An Innovative Flow Monitoring and Management System
The flow of people at terminals and transport stations, and in general at popular tourist destinations such as archaeological sites, beaches and popular areas, often adversely affects the quality of the services provided, the visitor’s experience as well as the quality of life and the hygiene conditions for all
Crowding and waiting in service queues may result in:
- a) reduced satisfaction,
- b) loss of revenue, and
- c) decrease in the feeling of security.
People Flows project will implement innovative solutions such as:
- a) Real time Recording of people flows through Computer Vision and ΙοΤ Interfacing with key external systems such as reservation systems, access control etc. Feeding with historical data figures for presence, flows, tickets, bookings and traffic.
- b) Flow monitoring and processing to forecast flows and provide visitors recommendations for optimum time planning or alternative visitor options. Exploitation of machine learning algorithms. Ability to analyze and process huge volumes and streams of data.
- c) Intelligent Queue Management Applications at places where congestion and waiting times occur most (embarkation gates, entrance areas, museums, archaeological sites, public services, etc.). Intelligent interactive user interfaces will be utilised.
d) Demo Application for project end users, tourism professionals, visitors, Destination Management Organisations and managers of public services.
